Privacy policy

This website is a static document. It keeps no accounts, accepts no input and loads nothing from other people's servers. Personal data therefore arises only to the extent that fetching a page technically requires. What that is, exactly, is set out below.

Controller

Name
Herr Prof. Lothar Günther B.A.
Address
Hauptstrasse 210, 77866 Rheinau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Telephone
+49 7844 991595

No data protection officer has been appointed, because the conditions in §38 of the German Federal Data Protection Act are not met: there is no large-scale processing and no twenty people are permanently engaged in processing.

Server log data

On every request your browser transmits details that the web server records in a log file: the IP address, the date and time of the request, the address requested, the HTTP status code, the volume of data transferred, the page you came from if your browser sends it, and a browser and operating-system identifier.

This processing is necessary to run the site: without the IP address no response can be delivered. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation. The legitimate interest lies in technical delivery, defence against abusive requests and fault diagnosis. The logs are not combined with other sources and are not used to build profiles. They are deleted automatically after a short period, normally within a few days, unless a specific incident requires keeping them longer.

Cookies and audience measurement

This website sets no cookies. It embeds no analytics service, no advertising network and no payment or social-media widget. There is no cross-device recognition and no automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Article 22 of the General Data Protection Regulation. No consent banner appears because there is nothing to ask about.

Your theme choice, stored locally

The pages can be switched between a light and a dark theme. Your choice is written to your browser's local storage under the name lo-theme with the value light or dark, so that the next page comes up the way you left it. That value never leaves your browser, is never sent to the server and carries no personal identifier. It persists until you clear the site data and can be removed at any time through your browser settings. If you make no choice, nothing is stored and your device setting decides.

Fonts and embedded content

The typefaces used are served from the same host as the pages. There is no connection to a font service, and opening a page triggers no request to a third party. No videos, maps, buttons or tracking pixels from other providers are embedded either, and every image and drawing on this website is delivered from the site's own host.

Hosting

The website runs with a hosting provider, which processes the log data described above on the controller's behalf and on his instructions. The basis is a data processing agreement under Article 28 of the General Data Protection Regulation, and the processing takes place within the European Union. There are no other recipients of your data, and no transfer to a third country is envisaged.

Links to other websites

Some pages link to vendor documentation and to public references. The moment you follow such a link, the privacy policy of the site you land on applies. The controller does not learn whether or when you use a link, because no measurement is set up to record it.

Encrypted transport

Pages are served over HTTPS and are therefore encrypted in transit; an unencrypted request is redirected to the encrypted address. Messages you send by email are not covered by that: email is not encrypted end to end along its whole path, which is why confidential matters are better sent by post or raised by telephone.

Your rights

You have the right of access to the data processed about you (Article 15), to rectification of inaccurate data (Article 16), to erasure (Article 17), to restriction of processing (Article 18) and to data portability (Article 20) of the General Data Protection Regulation. Because the processing rests on a legitimate interest, Article 21 additionally gives you a right to object.

Send any such request to the address above. Note that the log data consists of an IP address and a timestamp and nothing else, and that the controller has no means of linking it to a person. A request for access under Article 15 therefore has to state the period and the IP address used; without them the request cannot be acted on, as provided by Article 11(2).

Complaining to a supervisory authority

Independently of the above, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the authority where you habitually reside or the one competent for the controller. The latter is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.

Changes to this policy

This policy describes the state of the website on the date shown above. If anything about the processing changes, the policy is amended and the date updated. Processing will not be extended retroactively without saying so.
